Grumpy Old Wizards

I received a paperback copy of Grumpy Old Wizards by John O’Riley in exchange for my honest opinion about the book. I am usually a fan of paranormal romance novels and I usually don’t stray very far from the genre but I must say that I am in love with this book! After I started reading it, I couldn’t stop till I was finished. I had to find out what happened or I really don’t think I would have been able to sleep! This book is a mystery, crime book with paranormal twists! The entire world is filled with wizards of varying strengths and the main character, Josephine, is on a mission to find a serial killer before he kills again. The characters are lovable and are very well thought up. The writer is excellent at drawing you in. To continue really talking about it I will have to get a little more into dishing out some information. There will be spoilers ahead so be warned! If you don’t want spoilers, just know that this book is amazing and you will be able to get a copy on amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Grumpy-Old-Wizards/dp/1484020855/ref=la_B00BQRNHMO_1_1_twi_pap_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1456891602&sr=1-1

If you’re o.k. with spoilers then read on. I won’t give away the whole end of the book so it won’t be too bad! Now on to the spoilers! lol

Alright, so the story starts out giving off the basic information that you need to know about the world where the book takes place. We find out that there was some sort of accident but there isn’t any information dished out at first about what the accident is or what happened because of it. We also know that wizards are commonplace and everybody has magical abilities but that some wizards are stronger than others and they are classified by their strength in categories. The categories rank 1-6 with 6 being the strongest and that’s exactly what category we find out that our main character belongs in. Her name is Josephine and she’s 84 years old but due to category 6 wizards aging more slowly than other people, she looks like she’s in her 30s. This is really fun because all of her friends are not only old but look old too which makes some of their situations hilarious to me! You see a young lady acting like an old woman in your head and it makes me crack up. Anyway, I really love her personality. She’s funny and quirky but she still has a serious side and a sense of justice. I love that throughout the book, she holds on to her sense to do what’s right and follow her instincts even when they seem like it would be unwise. She chooses to help Gary even though there’s extreme risk to herself for instance. I find myself wanting to know more about her and her youth. What made her into the person that she has become today, etc.

We meet many characters in the book and they all play an important role but another favorite of mine is Gary. When we meet him, you can tell that something is seriously wrong in this guy’s head. I wonder at first if he’s a good guy or a bad guy and wonder if Josephine is making a mistake in helping him and trusting him. Then I start to really just feel bad for him. You can tell pretty quickly that he has been betrayed by someone even if you don’t know the who, what and why of it. I start feeling really sorry for the fact that he can never really have peace, even in his own mind. I feel like a lot of people with mental and social issues can really relate to this on their own level. I began just hoping that if nothing else, Josephine could at least help him relieve his suffering.

During all of the character development and story lines, you never lose sight of the main purpose of the book, the fact that there’s a psycho serial killer on the loose that is closing in on Josephine and Gary at an ever increasing speed. The story is very well played out and it wasn’t immediately apparent to me what was really going on. The story kept me guessing till almost the end and I really liked all of the twists and turns it took to get there.

I find myself wanting to continue on with this series to find out what happens next with everyone! I’m so irritated with the way the government controls the category 6 wizards that I really want some uprising from them to get their freedom! I wanted to punch the enforcers in the throat, with the exception of Jennifer who I felt sorry for. I think that the government was probably some how connected to the disaster? I don’t know. I suppose I will have to continue to find out, huh?

At any rate, this book was very good and really kept me wanting to continue reading. I would recommend it to anybody that has an interest in mystery, paranormal or crime novels! Detox Rasberry Ketone Cleanse

20160316_202556

I was given some of these dietary supplements to try for free for my honest opinion about the product. The directions say to take 1 or 2 capsules per day with an 8 oz glass of water. I took 2 per day and didn’t have any issues. The bottle states that it supports and maintains appetite control and has digestive support. I would say that these claims are true. I went through my day as normal, packed the same things for lunch and snacks that I always take to work and ate as usual. The thing is, I noticed that I didn’t snack as much as  I usually do at work. I still had some of the snacks in my lunch bag when I got home that I usually would have already consumed. I also noticed that I felt a bit more energized that usual. I have been trying to walk more and make some small changes like walking to the building from the parking lot at work instead of riding the trolley. Though these are small changes, I can tell a difference in my energy when doing these things. I have been taking these for a week now and I’ve lost around 4 lbs so far! I know what you’re thinking, if you’re going to take a “detox colon cleanse” you’re going to be running back and forth to the bathroom all day until you’re ready to never take them again right? Surprisingly, I didn’t have that problem with these! I only found that these helped ease my stomach issues and made me feel better. The only bad thing I could say is that I had a slight bit of heartburn after taking them. It was mild and I get heartburn a lot anyway so it may just be an issue with me but I would have a raspberry after-taste for a long time afterwards. The after taste wasn’t unpleasant to me though and I really like the taste of raspberry so I didn’t really mind. All in all I would suggest giving these a try! I will probably continue to use them to aid me in losing some weight and feeling better! You can get some on Amazon at: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BTBKL8O  #justifiedlabs
